Rwanda has managed to save The Virunga's National Park during the last 16 years of Conflict, mostly due to the assistance of young national parks officers who stayed during hte genocide. By contrast one of the largest forrests in the country, Giswati, ended up being almost totally destroyed by refugees who were resettled, legally and illegally there after the genocide in 1994.
