Teboho Motsele, 17 rides over a training jump in Soweto on the horse Solar Princess. Enos Mafokate, 61 gives instructions and has been riding in show-jumping competitions around the world. As one of the first black show jumpers in South Africa to compete worldwide, he felt an urgent need to train more black show jumpers and established the Soweto Riding School in Orlando East (Dube) with the help of the People's Dispensary For Sick Animals (PDSA). They also help care for the horses that ply the township of Soweto, shoeing them, and making sure they get rest days.  |
